Andrew Yule was on the staff at UMIST Manchester England for 25 years, where he was a Professor of Mechanical Engineering. Prior to UMIST he was a researcher in the Chemical Engineering Department at Sheffield University, and at the Institute of Sound and Vibration at Southampton University.
His research interests are in areas of fluid flow, sprays, consumer aerosols and instrumentation, but with experience in combustion, metal atomization and various process industries. With a first degree in Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Manchester, he was the Leader of the Aerospace Engineering M.Eng/B.Eng Course at UMIST and taught design as well as fluids and instrumentation modules. He has acted as a consultant for many companies, including Rolls Royce, BP, Zeneca Agrochemicals, Rhone Poulenc (Sanofi Aventis), Reckitt Benckiser, Akzo Nobel, Proctor and Gamble and Unilever.
He has around 200 publications in his areas of interest, was a founder of the Institute of Liquid Atomization and Spray Systems-Europe, and was its Chairman 1997-2000. He organised and contributed to MCT short courses throughout his time at UMIST where he formed the Atomization and Sprays Research Group. He is a Visiting Professor attached to the Spray Research Group at the University of Salford, and Emeritus Professor at Manchester University.

Ghasem Ghavami-Nasr is a full Professor with the Chair in Mechanical Engineering and Innovation in the School of Computing, Science and Engineering (CSE) at the University Salford, Manchester, UK. He is Head of Engineering Research Centre (ERC) and Director of Spray Research Group (SRG). He has over 22 years academic and industrial experience which encompasses research, innovation, development, commercial and enterprise, curriculum development, management and resources. Expert in 'industrial' atomiser design, atomisation processes, spray characterisation and their formation, utilising advanced laser instrumentations, imaging techniques, process development, CFD modelling and NPD (New Product Development) with ergonomics and cognitive issues. Supporting businesses and commerce worldwide utilising these skills throughout two decades. His work has application in nanotechnology, steel manufacturing, pharmaceutical, food, agriculture, aerospace, propulsion, humidification, automotive, decontamination, aerosol, medical etc.
