PERDAC EXPERTISE

Perdac has the following capabilities:


Specialist engineering expertise of its Directors and shareholders in Mechanical Engineering, particularly involving Fluid Mechanics, Sprays and Instrumentation,Combustion & Natural Gas Technology, includingaccess to an extensive library of publications in these areas.

Specialist Consultants both independent and from several UK Universities, including in the subjects:
    Laser Instrumentation
    Computational Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer
    Electrostatics/Electrohydronamics
    Software and IT
    Atomizer and Flow System design

Project Engineering staff who specialise in laboratory or CFD work in thermofluids/sprays projects.

Access and use of the facilities of the Spray Research Group at the University of Salford.

These facilities currently include:

  • Malvern laser diffraction particle sizers, for both spray and powder analysis
  • Pulse Photonics high speed multi image video imaging system for particle sizing, drop shape and velocity analysis,liquid break-up studies (also usable for flow imaging, schlieren studies etc)
  • Lake high speed video camera
  • UV spectrometer, mainly used for measuring efficacy of spray deposition processes
  • Dantec Phase Doppler Anemometry system for detailed studies of spray systems, fields of drop size, drop velocity, gas velocity, turbulence intensity, drop mass flux etc.
  • Various rigs for investigating sprays and combustion or heat transfer processes. High specification PCs dedicated to running CFD modelling software
  • Workshop with precision machining facility and technician expertise.


Perdac carries out the following types of projects:
Short term or long term consultancy, often at the client's premises
Measurement projects, typically up to a few days duration, e.g. to measure atomizer performance
R&D projects typically between one month and twelve months duration, involving combinations of experiment, computation and design (carried out following Projects Plan, with targets, regular meetings etc)
Software development projects
Independent expert witness, consultancy and advice to clients and barristers in legal issues, e.g. patent disputes
